On Friday 17th March, a German neighbour came to see me to tell me about an incident that had taken place earlier in the same day. She had had a knock on the door and on answering was met by a German-speaking man who told her that his parents had recently bought an apartment like hers in the next block.

He went on to explain that they had been broken into, and he had had to get a new front door installed, and could he just borrow 200€ from the neighbour to pay the installer until he could get access to funds later in the day?

This sounds a very similar scam to one I read about in the papers a year or so ago. It might actually be the same man (papers said was Scandinavian) - he is tall, thin, with dark hair and definitely speaks German but quite possibly several other languages. The husband of the neighbour who told me about him had actually seen him walking around the complex a couple of days prior to the incident, looking as though he was checking things. He knew that I was the President, and also the name of one of the Vice Presidents, and it sounds as though he must have been talking to one of the neighbours to try to get information, so as to then sound more plausible in his scam.

Please be aware and keep an eyeout for this individual.
