Rainproof !

On Friday morning we were rudely awoken by a persistent engine roar and a man peering over our balcony wall - we live on the first floor !

It was Fernando, our very handy man and he was on the platform of a cherry picker installing our rain runaway chute. He's now installed a longer aluminium chute onto each 1st and 2nd floor balcony in blocks 2,3,4 and 5. (Block 1 has internal drain pipes that route rainwater straight down to ground level.)

The original cement chutes were not long enough to take rain water far enough away from the balcony below and every time it rained ground and first floor balconies would have an extra torrent of water coming in directly or hitting the top of the wall and splashing in from the balcony above.

These longer chutes add a further 20cm to the existing cement runaway, they are white aluminium and have been specially made for us, they are fixed tight and cling underneath and up both sides and over the top edges plus Fernando has used a sealant so that the water cannot run under the cement and back towards the wall. He's done a neat job and they look quite smart.

Now to wait for some rain....
